Beads

Sector V (1989 excavation): beads and antler-pick in situ in a layer dating from the beginning of Late Neolithic II (c. 4600 BC).Necklace made of marble and spondylus shell beads; beginning of Late Neolithic II (c. 4600 BC).The beads are usually discoid and made of shell or stone. In one case, a necklace made from both materials was found in situ on a Late Neolithic II floor. The two materials were impossible to distinguish with the naked eye or even under a microscope, and the distinction was only made after analysis with the method of infrared spectroscopy, conducted at the Laboratory of Archaeometry in Bordeaux..
